Judith Konesni of Tidal Wave Glass Studio invites you to her studio of hot glass art. Located near the Park Street entrance, follow the signs and step into the world of glassblowing. Ms. Konesni creates a whole range of aquatic sea life and glass for the home and office. Wearable glass such as glass bead necklaces, earrings, pints, tie tacks and bracelets are also made by torch, fusing/slumping and glassblowing.

Judith also makes one-of-a-kind and award winning coral reef sculptures featuring a collection of sea creatures on the coral reef and aquatic icon figurative work and these works are available to order and are ideal for an office lobby, winter home, or to add to your art collection. Waves Gallery is part of the studio, so stop in for a visit or to shop. Tidal Wave Glass Studio hours are Mon.-Fri. 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., other hours, weekends and evenings by appointment only. In December, the glass wing of the Park Trades Center – Tidal Wave Glass Studio and Meints Glassblowing hosts the Holiday Art Market featuring a whole variety of art and gifts made by artists of the Park trades and Kalamazoo area, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Georgia, New Mexico, and from across the united States. Holiday Art Market Hours are Mon.-Fri.: 10:00 a.m. t0 6:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., other hours by appointment. Call for dates of the Holiday Art Market. Gift boxes come with your purchase.

Glass blowing classes are available. Judith Konesni teaches all levels of glass blowing: Glass I, II, III, IV and Independent Study at her studio. Glassblowing classes are available throughout the year and are on Tuesday evenings, Thursdays and Saturdays. Holland glass artist, Kim Hickcox teaches flame-work bead making on Mondays and Thursdays at Tidal Wave Glass Studio. Other glass artists who have taught at Tidal Wave Glass Studio such as Marthja Croasdale, cast glass: pate de verre. On August 16, 2002 – the international glass artist from Seattle Washington – Dante Marioni made goblets for the Art Center in Battle Creek and sponsored Glass events at Tidal Wave Glass Studio in Kalamazoo.

Judith Konesni’s studio is the only hot glass studio in the region to host a grand glass event. Thirty-five participants were amazed with the incredible skills of world class glass blower Dante Marioni and his assistant Janusz Pozniak. Fellow glassblowers and guests in the audience were given the chance of a lifetime to see them up-close and make their magnificent glass goblets and vessels. April is Michigan Glass Month and Tidal Wave Glass Studio hosts a glass exhibition and Challenge of the Glassblowers every year. We have glass medals and Olympic Award Ceremonies for our glassblower challengers of 5-6 competitions. The public is invited to all events at the studio. Workshops and classes have tuition and fees. Judith Kosensi is a glass artist from Toledo, Ohio. She was born in 1959 and has been making glass since 1980. She is a 1981 B.F.A. graduate from the University of Toledo and the joint art program at the Toledo Museum of Art. Her glass has been exhibited nationally and she has received numerous awards for her glass art. In 1987 she began her business as Tidal Wave Glass Studio. She is past member/past president of the Toledo Area Glass Guild, and has blown glass at Gallery B of Toledo, Glass Axis in Columbus, Ohio. In 1994, she established her own private glass studio in northwest Toledo.

The big move to Kalamazoo was the result of her husband – Tom – new job and her family and studio was moved to Kalamazoo county in 1997. At her new Michigan studio, Judith Konesni makes hot glass, saltwater coral reef and freshwater fish, sea anemone, frogs, turtles, crabs, lobsters, starfish, octopus, squids, clams, bowls, vases, flowers, holiday ornaments, gazing globe steel garden art (with Michelle Zorich – Things of Steel), hearts, round and oval paperweights, chili peppers, glass bead jewelry, fused glass jewelry, aquatic coral reef sculptures, fountains, corporate and sports awards in glass, engraving on glass, fundraising glass and special gifts, the “heart of America” and more.
