| Michelle Zorich: Artist Statement Michelles motto illustrates her purpose as an artist: she makes functional works of art, which become integral parts of peoples households and lives. Michelle strives to make artwork that can be used and not just admired. Thus, each piece functions as furniture, an element of home design. There are themes of masculinity and femininity in the lines of her sculpted metal work. Michelle concentrates on making each piece unique and one-of-a-kind, she does this by developing spontaneous and inspirational relationships with her work. This sensual relationship of artist and art lends Michelles artwork with a personal and sexy flavor. Once I complete a work or aft, I need to let it go so someone else can enjoy it as I have. I love what I do, and I think this love and happiness comes to the new owner of a piece once it leaves my possession. Michelle blends other media into her steel sculptures, such as fabric, granite, marble, stained and blown glass, doorknobs, floor grates and other found objects. Her work is always on display in Kalamazoos Park Trades Center at THINGS OF STEEL, studio 127. Michelle is usually in her studio except when she is out buying steel or taking her dog Nike for a walk. Call her if you would like to set up an appointment to see her gallery and studio, (69) 349-8732. |
